Under the Red Star to Screen in Vancouver

Under the Red Star, a film produced by Ron Harpelle, has been invited to screen at the 8th Annual Vancouver International Women in Film Festival to be held between March 7 and 10, 2013. Although every selection by a film festival is important, the VIWFF is particularly special because the film is being recognized for the work of its director, Kelly Saxberg, the contributions of the late Dr. Varpu Lindstrom and the fact that a large part of the story focuses on the story of Sanna Kannasto, an early feminist radical who is forgotten in the pages of Canadian history. The VIWFF is one of only three major film festivals in Canada that focus on women and it is significant that it is held on International Women's Day. Under the Red Star is also travelling to selected cities in Canada as part of the Canadian Labour International Film Festival circuit.
